Dear Citizens and Stakeholders

Our city “Kanpur” selected for ROUND-2 under Smart City Mission. At present, Kanpur is in the process of preparing the revised Smart City Proposal. Therefore your valuable suggestions are solicited to revise the Smart City Proposal of Kanpur City for Round-2 submission to Government of India (GoI).
After a lot of deliberation among Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) official and the citizens of Kanpur, during Citizen’s Engagement Round - 1, Smart City Proposal for Kanpur included:
1. PAN City proposal
2. Area based development

So, we invite all citizens of Kanpur to participate in this review process where they can share their suggestions to help KMC reformulate the Smart City Proposal in Smart City Mission Round-2 challenge the links of which have been provided underneath and submit your valuable suggestions here within 30/04/2016.

Inclusive: socially economically to all people. With attention to needs of elderly and differntly abled. Local grievance redressal: area based to enhance community participation with responsive governance. Plus people should be enabled to directly linteract with their govt, be it bureaucracy or politicians.

Waste disposal bins along sides of the road at distance of 200 m. With strong propanganda. Providing adequate supply of water: this must begin with water assessment of our city: areas which are most vulnerable due to lack and absence of clesn water. This along with distribution network that flows to all major areas, particularly slums. Water pricing: to deter for indiscriminate exploitation of water. Sewerage system- vacuum based network as followed in other major cities.

Traffic: the foremost problem marring our city is weak implementation of traffic rules. These must be strictly enforced. Public transport: Transport information system can be employed to give availability, traffics and route info on real time basis. Secondly, our public transport fleet is ailing with poor delivery of service!! Proper maintenance is critical if we want to expand its reach Ticket automation or smart card can be used, with vehicles carrying passengers in prescribed limit.

Smart city should essentially be green city. A city with a negative carbon footprint, clean air, it should add water to the water table . That is achievable with shelter belts .not only do we need more trees we need them near the city centre. Ground water must be rechaged with catchment wells.
