Belagavi is the oldest city in Karnataka with a rich history and culture. It is the 4th largest city in the state and the fastest growing urban center. Belagavi is also a business hub and education center of Karnataka. The city has been shortlisted by Ministry of Urban Development for development as one of the 100 smart cities in India.

Belagavi City Corporation is preparing the Smart City Proposal with an intent to plan and provide smart solutions to urban infrastructure issues of the city and welcomes the citizens of Belagavi to post their views, opinions, thoughts and plans on smart solutions for their infrastructure needs related to water supply, sanitation, solid waste management, storm water drainage, housing, amenities related to recreational activities, sports facilities, energy efficiency, non-motorized transport, safety, electrification, open space development and management, healthcare, education, public transport, key infrastructure such as pedestrian walkways, cycle paths, roads, underpasses, over-bridges, services such as e-governance tools etc. Inputs from citizens is crucial for framing a vision for tomorrow’s Belagavi and to get shortlisted as one among the top 20 cities in the first year, in the Smart City Challenge.

Come, let’s together make Belagavi a thriving and vibrant smart city.

HEALTH PROMOTING SCHOOLS - Citizen Engagement - Senior citizens, IMA, Neighbourhood doctors will be more than willing to associate. NSS divisions of Engineering colleges can be approached to address infrastructure problems in these schools. Preventive & Social Medicine Depts in Medical Colleges can engage their medical students for Health Education in these scholls Clean India campaign may have better results by targeting these children on virtues of sanitation

HEALTH PROMOTING SCHOOLS 1. Healthy Environment - Adequate buildings, CLEAN DRINKING WATER, Working Toilets 2. Health Education - Personal hygiene, Hand washing, Nutrition 3. Health Services - School Based Health Care - Every cluster to be provided School Nurse for detection of health issues such as Eye problems, Dental & skin issues, Micronutrient deficiency. Utilize the School Adoption programme to implement above. Central CCTV, covering these schools to monitor school activities.

To address the issues of Inclusive Education & Healthcare in a smart way. Present Scenario : Govt schools in the city 1. Usually set up in CA sites - adequate space 2. Infrastructure, Quality of Education needs lot of improvement 3. Healthcare - Poor in these schools ( 6 monthly check up, Iodine & iron supplement, Albendazole) Suggestion : Adopt WHO's "HEALTH PROMOTING SCHOOL" programme Healthy Environment, Health Education & Healthcare Services. Neighbors, NGO, Corporates can partner.

DEEPIKA REVANKAR KLECET-EC "SMART CITY"-A LEAP TO DIGITALIZED INDIA A Smart city should comprise of: 1.Good,widened and long lasting roads. 2.Separate market zone for street vendors so that they don't put up their shops on roads/streets. 3.Good drainage system. 4.Excellent traffic management. 5.Fly overs especially wherever railway crossings are observed. 6.Planting more trees which will add to the beauty of the city and reduces pollution 7.Construction of By-pass and Ring roads

Our city will be smarter if we could do our basics right, like Better Roads, Effective traffic management, Effective solid waste management, Effective water usage, Saving and developing greener belt around the city. Above all Our politicians should work sincerely together towards development rather then communally divided mindset.

AITM(B.E MECHANICAL) BELGAUM 1.Good surface roads 2.Not placing the garbage boxes in residential areas 3.not allowing the cattles to go by main roads to avoid traffic jams 4.providing smart classes to all the institutions 5.not allowing baners n cut outs placing by the side of roads 6.water harvesting. 7.use of solar energy for water heating and electricity 8.better traffic rules 9.less use of plastics 10.providing street lights in all the areas 11.free wifi in colleges.
