Honorable Prime Minister, we really feel blessed and proud to have you as our PM. Deeply saddened and anguished by what happened in Pahalgam, I personally feel that it is time now to introduce National Service for every youth of this country between the age of 14-16. We can study the Singapore and Israel Models and tweak them to suit our needs. I understand this is not an easy task but the people of India particularly the parents will have to be educated to embrace this. The NS will help bring in a fighting spirit and enable our youth to face such situations boldly and unitedly. This will also help promote national spirit. In fact, the NS also helps youth to pursue their hidden talents during NS and make them very responsible citizens of the country. We should also introduce a National Service week for all citizens between the age of 27-35 to provide them with basic self defence skills to face Pahalgam like situations boldly and unitedly. An Armed Forces Fund may be set up to receive public contributions towards equipment for our Armed Forces. A list of permissible items can be offered. The minimum acceptable public contribution may be mentioned. If it is possible to provide a certificate to the contributor on the utilization of his/her contribution for particular item, it would give immense satisfaction to the contributor even if the contribution covers the cost of just a pair of boots for our Jawan. This scheme will make peoples’ bond with the Armed Forces even stronger. There should be no tax benefit on this type of contribution as that will belittle the patriotic sentiment of the donor.
