Our country India is indeed a progressive nation. On one hand is our respectable leader visiting many developed nations in order to strengthen our ties with them, on the other hand we are limiting our horizons by discouraging the teaching of foreign languages in our schools. It's important to realise that by imparting foreign language, we would equip our nation's leaders of tomorrow with better understanding & respect for multifaceted world.Let's open our mind, learn a foreign language & prosper!

Learning a language in itself is a great experience, I never felt happy and content during my graduation (B.A.Hons. English, Delhi University) as I was in the 2 and a half years spent at Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi. The best time of my life was from January 2005- June 2007. As it is the reason that I very proudly stand out in Crowd. All my friends securing 85% and above marks are merely Homemakers and I am independent serving the society with great pride. As German is my passion and will be.

As a child I could not enjoy Hindi and History but German was the Pillar of strength for me not only till Class VIII but also till Class X. Because of it I could think of making a career and having a bright future otherwise as a an average student I had no ray of hope in my life.It is not about degrading or not teaching Foreign Languages but about the interest of a child. One has to study all subjects but how much is used in long run is my question to the HRD Minister and Prime Minister.

It is indeed very sad to know that after having so much faith and belief in polling for the Tiger of India Shri Narendra Modi, Honourable Prime Minister of India the teaching community has taken a back seat . The countless efforts of the teachers in educating the citizens of India and other countries to facilitate them with all possible horizons, vision, hope, exposure to the Globalised World and need of the hour the teaching -learning of Foreign Languages is being degraded.

In this world of globalization, knowledge of a foreign language is an asset. We can give our children this asset by teaching them a foreign language of their own choice in the school. It will not only open lots of career opportunities, but also help them to become really globalized citizens of this world. We should not forget "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (The world is one family)

I am of the opinion that in promotion of languages as well as other issues, we should follow our own culture. Since time immemorial we have assimilated other cultures and evolved our distinct culture(without giving up our culture).I think same applies for languages as well. We should be open to learning new languages. Openness means progress. It not only provides better job opportunities it also helps bring peoples of two nations closer.

The reasons for learning a new language are varied, but the importance of learning foreign languages is universal: it will always benefit you in one way or another. Foreign languages are important to those working in business, communications and nearly every other career track. Bilinguals are more confident with their choices after thinking it over in the second language and seeing whether their initial conclusions still stand up.

Learning a language doesn't mean that we are forgetting our culture and tradition. But the fact is that we are coming closer to the culture of other countries. And it helps in the growth of our economy . It provide goos career as well. Its the need of the hour to learn a language so that we can also impart our knowledge and skills with others. And the most important part is that learning a language does not make us forget our mother tongue. So let student learn a language at school level as well.
