Some farmers move to city to work due to failure of crops and some commit suicide due to heavy loss when heavy rain spoils their hard work. Some don't encourage their kids to do agriculture as they don't want them to suffer like them in their life. So they send them to schools and colleges and get job. Text book should have few lessons on Agriculture. School students and college students should be given with a project to plant some tree saplings, or grow some crops and learn on the importance of Agriculture. Schools should arrange for a trip to village and make them to see the process of cultivation and make kids to interact with the farmers. This will help a kid to understand the importance of food and they will not waste the food if they realise the difficulty in production of crops. Every year tons of food is wasted in lavish parties and functions. An awareness among our citizens to avoid wastage of foods is the need of the hour. Especially among school children. We need to do this.

Who shall be entrusted to take up IEC for PMFBY? First the farmers shall be made to believe that PMFBY is beneficial to them. This activity can not be entrusted to Insurance companies or their agents. Because if these entities try to approach the farmers and explain the benefits, farmers may think that this is marketing techniques and the scheme may not benefit them. So, the scheme shall be discussed best in Panchayats. There the benefits of taking PMFBY can be explained. How application forms shall be filled and in case of natural calamities, how to take the claims under this scheme and how to communicate with insurance companies about the status of claim processing.
