वर्ष 2015-16 के दौरान घरेलू मांग को पूरा करने के लिए भारत ने आयात पर 4.82 लाख करोड़ रुपये खर्च किए। आयात का बोझ कम करने के लिए और बेहतर पर्यावरण के लिए, जनता को सप्ताह में एक दिन पेट्रोल/डीजल का इस्तेमाल न करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित/प्रेरित करने का प्रस्ताव है।

हमारे माननीय प्रधान मंत्री ने सभी नागरिकों से सप्ताह में एक दिन के लिए पेट्रोल / डीजल के इस्तेमाल से बचने का आग्रह किया है। उन्होंने कहा है कि अगर 125 करोड़ भारतीयों ने ऐसा करने की प्रतिज्ञा की, तो 'न्यू इंडिया' का सपना हासिल किया जा सकता है।

हर हफ्ते एक दिन के लिए, जनता को पेट्रोल/डीजल का इस्तेमाल न करने के लिए, त्साहित/प्रेरित करने के तरीकों का सुझाव देने के लिए आप सब आमंत्रित हैं।

सुझाव देने की आखरी तारीख 8 अप्रैल, 2017, दोपहर 12 बजे तक है|

Dear Sir, It's good that every body may join the same, but what you going to give him best alternative for that 1 day travelling. Ok we thing people so posed no come out or not using Petrol/Diesel for 1 day then are we going to fall-down the rate it is any preparation. People wants something in exchange for there contribution in any form cash/ rewards/ appreciations/ any which was beneficial to the public.

I want to go to my office everyday by cycle but get afraid of getting hit by any car or, any heavy vehicle, that could be a threat on my life. So, How would I can go by cycle? Need to have a cycle pathway along with roads,but again that will be captured by stalls and shops. So need to design it architecturally so that, there should be no shops or, stalls on pathways.

Cycling need to be promoted by local governments by providing better cycle friendly roads and paths. Few people don't want to buy a cycle but can rent, why not introduce something www.citycycle.com.au/ this. Install cameras on the roads so that people safe to walk and avoid using vehicle. Have more bus frequency with limited people standing max let say 10 in a bus so that people go for bus. Dedicated Bus lanes on most of the city roads, no need for BRT.Allow taxi to play on bus lane

To discourage usage of Fuel on sun days and save precious natural resources and foreign exchange Toll charges for personal LCV vehicles may be levied with one time additional Toll charge of Rs.50 at the first Toll. This fund can be used for other developmental activities like improving the Road facility and other passenger amenities.This will encourage people to travel by Public Transports. Alternatively, for using private vehicles on sun days additional Road Tax may be charged as in Singapore.

Give people a GPS based tamper proof meter that they can connect to their bicycles. People can pay a nominal fee for obtaining these devices. Based on the distance that the person has rode the bicycle he can be offered a discount on his electricity bill. That would encourage people to ride bicycles (and also keep them fit). Also, it would be good if we could assign dedicated lanes for bicycles on city main roads.

Its a welcome move of the Indian govt. to take an initiative to reduce the dependence on conventional sources of energy, which is in accordance with the paris norms. The govt, and other corporate offices can make any 1 day of the week mandatory for all their employees to make use of public transport. Adding to this norm, it can make the company premises a no parking zone for all its employees, which would compel them to take shelter of public transport. Those violating must be fined heavily.

I have visited few countries. What I have observed that 1.local government creates best streets to encourage people to walk for near by things that can go up to 3 km. 2. Footpaths are wider in city at least 5 feet to accommodate more people. 3. There was a single standard height across country, not like ours where a footpath can go sometime 2 feet. 4. Each footpath has exit ramps to help people with prams, wheelchairs and cyclist. 5. Footpath are free from vendors and covered and SAFE

Unsustainable way of living is the biggest threat to survival and happiness of humans. Suggested priorities: - Electric vehicles, electric mass transport - give enough investment and incentives to create their widespread use and acceptance - also fund R&D in partnership with non-government sector. - It will address pollution issue, more people will venture out on cycles - Incentivize renewable energy generation and spread mass awareness - also fund R&D in partnership with non-govt. sector.
