I am a youth of India. I feel mock drills associated with disaster management & First Aid Training must be provided at secondary school level. At the time of disaster, different candidates can volunteer in mitigating it.

We're a young nation, with plenty of young buddies available at any given time. Hence, youth can play an important role in disaster mitigation and management. Practical education and training must be imparted at senior school/college levels & a compulsory test subject; social awareness and public mock drills must be carried out; lare scale public campaigns must be conducted to create awareness about its importance.

Youth can play a pivotal role in disaster management. Youth from all over India should be trained in pre and post disaster management activities depending on the area they belong to. Such trained youths should be registered with local authorities so that they can be called upon in case of disaster. They should be trained in different skills like paramedics, rescue, fire fighting, crowd management, evacuation etc. Their little help can save a lot of lives till SDRF and NDRF teams reach the spot.

Proper awareness and selective training for handling the situations before disaster occurs. Guidelines will work as one of the best ways.Lets take an example of state Uttrakhand, it comes under one of most active seismic zones but people in most of the areas of the state have built their houses in most risky areas either on the verge of the mountain or just below it.Awareness can be one of the ways .Also strict laws should be brought into actions and people need to know preventive measures.
