During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

Dear PM Sir, Involvement of Sports in our day to day life can keep drugs away us. So promoting sports as well as yoga can lower consumption rate of drugs. Also do make the national anthem compulsory in each colleges and universities. Because Patriotism is the best cure to all such problems.

Usually, the children of very wealthy and unscrupulous parents are found to be drug -addicts. There should be a law to confiscate all such ill-gotten wealth of parents of drug addicts so as to cut off money supply to drug peddlers who thrive on such easy money. It's one way of unearthing the black money also. Leniency to unscrupulous business men, bureaucrats, contractors, politicians, film personalities, etc., will only aid and abett such evils like drug menace.

Strict implementation of laws that are made to restrict drug usage is the first step towards that. Why I am telling this is , we are not in a position to at least stop the menace of smokers on streets even when there are laws against smoking in public places. I wanted to see how my gov is going to handle the latest proposal on banning sale if loose cigars. I suggest you to take measurable and achievable things into making laws and try to implement them strictly.

Strictly rules not change Indian/world youth. Change the youth mind. Please motivation how to leave the drugs and fill up the self confidence.

Dear Sir,So many drugs are easily available in market which are used for wrong purpose.we are unable to stop them for example IODEX(painkiller balm),THINER(romover),NITROVIT(antipyretic),COREX(cough syrup),These are easily availble in market they are used for both purpose.Some people used this for pain but some are misused these drugs.I am not talking about the morphine type of drug or other krokodil drugs.If we want to stop people to take drugs first educate them by organizing seminar and ads.

India must NEVER EVER start a so-called "War on Drugs" the way the United States did several decades ago. It has completely failed. India must consider legalizing drugs, taxing them, and spending public money on treatment instead of harsh prison sentences. Nature installed lungs to remove NOT to add smoke. Clean breath and cheerful smile are luxuries they can't afford. To revive them 1. find their natural talents, groom them towards success in the same direction 2. give them small jobs where some success and money can be generated 3. financially reward them for their revival & positive contribution 4. use rehab programs to prevent from slipping back. 5. identify role models to revive more such people and enable societal transformation.

Drug menace comes when one thinks there is a loose system and one has to or can take control of oneself apart from parents or when one becomes less part of society and indulges in one's own thought The causes are many and each cause identified and blocked plus care for the cause
