If drug addicted classified on how they started - there is significant number of crazy/casual people, who had no specific reason to start. As society can we (Government/Family/Friends) appeal such people to try all good addictions first? Work-alcoholism, addiction to music/art/sports/education/research/social work/adventures/trekking/travel/spirituality and what not! When a person is done with all those good addictions, & still want to go for drugs, they are free to go! That day will never come!

1. Regular police is not enough, special Drug Enforcement Division if there is one its not effective. Police supposed to put fear in culprits mind and heart. Khakhi police do not even scared a 7 year old child. Total overhaul of police dep re
2. Source of Drugs as well as Final users (parties, clubs and other outlets)
3. Drug dealers networks.
4. Strict laws no JAILS only FANSI/Hanging. set some examples
5. Mostly young people are taking drugs so make colleges and schools aware of drug issues.

You want ideas, when given through interact with PM, could not see Govt. action in that direction. Problems Root Cause will be somewhere that doesn't relevant to the problem. if you state, "Currency Valuation system" and "trading of currencies against each other" is not valid, nothing but implants and blasts "bomb" at the Core of the "World crooked Conspiracy" being executed since last one century by crooks of the world that has lead to the deaths of many through hunger and poverty. I can help.

Police in civil dress like Common people should have a watch on entire Eco-System of Drug mafia channel operating in a particular locality/ District and then make a sudden and synconised crack down on Drug paddlers and suppliers. They should be tried under strict legal laws so that it sets an example for others. Drugs cant be made at home so "agar bikega nahi toh kisi ko milega nahi"

India should study the drug laws and policy of Portugal. Focus needs to be on prevention and treatment rather than criminalization and incarceration. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_policy_of_Portugal

Social awareness should be created right from school. From 12 years of age kids should be taught about substance abuse and it's consequences. Aside of education, campaigns should be run for women n men in the rural areas to make them understand what they need to look for as behaviour pattern and educate them on rehab. Aware mothers are a big step to help curb this. Campaigns through adverts and print media as well as plays on radio or TV might help. The social stigma with rehab should be cleared

Watch this brilliant documentation about the infamous needle park in Zurich, Switzerland... and how the swiss government was able to eradicate it. Not by imposing stricted punishment or harsher laws, by the way...
