During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

Meditative techniques need to be introduced into the curriculum of schools from the post -primary level.Indigenous disciplines like yoga and meditation are effective means to increase the levels of positive energy in a person. Tai Chi and other techniques could also be introduced. A higher spiritual quotient would lead to a vibrant and positive society

Recently one of my friend son is suspended from NiT Trichy for one year , because of involvement in drugs. In that context I visited NIT Trichy and observed that the situation is very bad, on the roof top I observed empty liquor bottles in thousands and cigar butts in numerous nos and most of them were used to consume marjuana. According to the approximately sixty percent of the students are regular offenders and twenty percent are casual offenders. Request concerned authorities to verify this
