During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

a)Sustained awareness campaign (in high schools and colleges), through TV and radio (short films and plays be used). b) modernise & upgrade tracking/checking facilities at international borders, airports, major railway stations, intercity bus terminals and inter-state check points. c) establish more rehabilitation centres for petty retail agents and addicts. d) speedy trial and strict punishments for major drug criminals and their financiers.

If we have a look upon everything happening around us we will find that it emerges from need for recognition, need for achievement, low esteem and poor social adjustment. Thus these social issues must be dealt immediately. Unless and until we get back to our own roots we wouldn't reach to the solution. Culture should be strengthened by creating appropriate examples before the generation. Moreover one of the other prominent reason is self medication and misguidance.

I think by eleminating Poverty,by giving education to all and to give education ,first by providing food to all are the three ways to tackle with drug menace in India.Sir in my town Jamshedpur childrens of 4,5,..10yrs are taking cough syrup, dendrite & so many other things for Nasha. To me the cause is they do not have "Roti, kapda , makan & family".When they grows up will become drug addict.Unemployment =>Frustration => Drug.We all have to do our duties honestly for developement of our society.

4) Main point is the parents should become more responsible towards their children. Also the major issue is spreading HIV thro the used syringes among the drug addicts.

MY VIEWS ON DRUG MENANCE HAS TO BE BASED ON TWO POINTS 1)WE SHOULD BRING ALL THE DRUG PRODUCING FACTORIES AND UNITS UNDER INDIAN NARCOTICS ACT AND A SEPERATE JUDICIARY FOR THE MENANCES RELATED TO THE DRUGS AND THE OFFENDERS PRACTICING DRUG MENANCED SHOULD BE SUBJECTED TO HANGING OR SHOULD BE IMPRISIONED FOR LIFETIME OR SHOULD BE PROSECUTED BEFORE THE GENERAL PUBLIC SECONDLY THERE SHOULD BE A SUBJECT IN THE EDUCATIONAL CIRICULLUM ABOUT HOW DRUG MENANCE AFFECTS THE SOCIETY IN GENERAL.

5)Now the suggestion which I am giving may find u weird , but think over it. As there are condom wending machines and condom are freely available in some of the areas/ centers same way these syringes should also be available freely, so that at least a step to avoid spreading HIV can be taken. Controlling Drug abuse is one part and controlling spreading HIV is another part. This is bold and new idea.

All drug producing factories should be close. It is need to strict discipline for user and seller. Stop retailing of drug and if anyone use and sell drugs, they should be punished for one year jail and maximum fines.
