During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

AVOID LONELINESS---THE BIGGEST HURDLE IN AVOIDING DRUG.. STAY AWAY FROM IT...ACTIVATE YOURSELF IN SOME CONSTRUCTIVE SOCIAL ACTIVITY(DRUG EDICT CAN JOIN CHILDREN GROUP, OLD AGE GROUP, YOGA GROUP ETC.). GENERALLY IT IS A HABIT WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO CHANGE... LET THE HABIT BE THERE INSTEAD CHANGE THE OBJECT... IF CHEWING OF TOBACCO IS HABIT LET CHEWING BE THERE LET THE OBJECT BE FENNEL SEED (SAUNF -- VARIYALI), AMLA, JETHI MATH (LICORISE POWDER), IT WILL BE HEALTHY AND HELPFUL IN AVOIDING DRUGS.

It is high time that we re look at our controls and regulations. Counseling, and keeping youth engaged is way ahead. Moral policing, strict actions, wandering and jobless youth is nurturing crime and drugs. We should overhaul the education system towards vocational rather than class room oriented. Keep youth engaged give them skills development so they become employable and not mere educated or graduate. Idle youth is cradle for crime and drugs.

We say that we should restrict the sale of alcohol and cigarette.but on the other side govt itself is issuing the permits to open such outlets. This can be controlled only by authorities strictness. Panchkula is bordered by Chandigarh which is a union territory and Himachal Pradesh .all the three places have different taxation system which promote tax evasion and black marketing of these products .this should be given due attention.

Kindly, address and empower all Directors and principals for being strict for alcoholism. The students in UG/PG colleges are becoming more bold. The hostels are the biggest place for these kind of activities.

We need to address this problem at the root level. Children and some adults as well, indulge into drugs to seek 'attention'. Most of them are driven by a deep sense of loneliness within. Elders, especially parents must watch their children closely and provide the emotional need which they seek so desperately. It is not enough to provide food, clothing and shelter alone in this modern age. We need to add emotional support to the list which is far more essential to the current middle class.

At the Premier Film & Television Institute of India, I was shocked to know from several insiders that it is infested with drug abusers and peddlers. This is obviously accompanied by illicit sex and liquor. Not a single night passes without these undeclared rave parties. The staff I spoke to about it said we have to allow it and that too in the open.

If you go to Pushkar, you can find drugs on any hotel Paanwalla and even on roads. All govt officers know this yet tey are silent because they collect Haffttas from drug vendors. The best way is that Central Govt should send different SIT to find out drugs and stop this menance forever. Government cannot depend upon local police as they are deeply involved in Drugs

there should be more and more advertisement through media about adverse affect of alcohol and a good increase in price time to time should be made. youngesters should participate in making alcohol anonymous and media should make advertisement about it. there is a government school beside my house i see many children smoking and eating gutkha. i feel very sad about it . there should be frisking in school and no vendors should be positioned within 1km area.
