During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

Our country is yet to achieve independence not from British from IGNORANCE(children and adults suffer from this equally). INTELLECTUAL IGNORANCE causing our schools and colleges to deliver insufficient knowledge. SPIRITUAL IGNORANCE producing violence, crime and divorces. Can't a newborn baby be born in this country which provides good environment to grow up? Popularise sayings THIRUKURRAL(TAMIL), VEMANA PADYALU(TELUGU), such moral sayings existed in every culture, language in all partsof india

- Create legal awareness campaigns in all colleges and communities having history of drug addicts. - Reform drug trafficking laws that enunciates stricter actions and punishments than mere fine amount. - Mandate high-schools and colleges to play documentaries during induction programmes; documentaries that portray ill-effects of drug abuse and its legal complications to instill fear and prevent ignorance of drugs.

Our country produced great buddhist monks who changed the troublesome bad habits. Buddha changed the notorious 'Angulimala' in to a monk of compassion and realization. It is through truth, non-violence, advocating powerful realization of true nature of being, thoughts, mind and control and the dynamics of life in depth. Today our society needs revival of real spiritual as well as practical thoughts and dynamics. It is through regaining and studying our lost treasure of buddhist moral books

1) Spiritual and religious text must be included in the school syllabus, 2) Meditation class must be encouraged among the students to control their minds and think free from drugs and other bad habits, 3) Special programs or seminars must be promoted through Art of Living or Brahmakumaris which I have seen giving motivational thoughts to young students, 4) School should adopt drug free environment, 5) Teacher-parents meet with students must be regular routine in schools.
