Varanasi, or Benaras, (also known as Kashi) is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Varanasi`s Prominence in Hindu mythology is virtually unrevealed. Varanasi Nagar Nigam is now participating in the second round of Smart City Challenge to enhance its Smart City Proposal prepared in Round 1. This exercise is being carried out under the Government of India’s flagship program for developing Smart Cities in India. Varanasi, also known for as the city of light, its culture and heritage, is now the most potential city in the state of Uttar Pradesh for being selected in the next round. As per the Guidelines of Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, the preparation of Smart City Proposal is citizen centric and the successful implementation for any city would depend upon the responses/ suggestions given by its citizens.

Expectations from Citizen: Varanasi Nagar Nigam has detailed out the Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats of the city based on the Focus Group Discussions. Varanasi Nagar Nigam would request all the citizens to support Varanasi by giving their valuable suggestions/ feedback in strengthening the Smart City proposal for round 2.

सड़के पक्की बन जाये , हर जगह टॉयलेट की साफ व्यवस्था हो, रोज़गार हो, दुस्बिन हो जगह जगह , पानी साफ आये बैकवर्ड एरिया में जड़ा काम हो

The City lacks Greenery ........ plantation must be promoted among the citizens Gov should also take up some plantation job Industrialization should be promoted in the Chandauli District

Better Health Services ............. Hospitals Like Sir SunderLal (BHU) , Shiv Prasad Gupta(Kabir Chauraha) requires better administration... Even the private sector Hospitals needs some monitoring.... Better Public Transportation System... Which is not upto the mark The Controversy of the waste Treatment plant should be solved and started Door-Door Waste pickup thing is great but it should be extended Proper naming of the Streets and Localities should be done

One of the major problem in the Varanasi is their roads. If the road is clean it means the any VVIP has to come in few days or the digging process has been planned for some purpose. Make proper plan, jha khodna h khod lo bt uske bd sari problem usse related solve ho jaye jaise ki pipeline bhi andar kr do jamin ke, sever system ki bhi problem solve ho jaye, electricity wires ko bhi underground kr lo.....i mean jo bhi underground kaam h sb khtm kr ke properly sahi kr do ki dubara na krna pde...

Varanasi one The Oldest city of the History.To maintain the dignity of the city it is required to first clean the city which can not be possible without public help of the peoples living their....it is the major problem in the streets that the people who clean their front door are the one of them who through garbage on their back side of the home the forget the their back door is someone's front...if we overcome this makes their own door clean if all the door will be clean city is cleaned.

- Airport of Varanasi should be developed,with more connecting flight to National/International destination. It will help in boosting tourism. - Subway/Footoverbridge is required for crossing the road towards Varanasi Cantt station, Varanasi city station and Manduadih station. Most of the commuters crosses roads, causing traffic jam in these areas.
