The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry initiated the process of formulation of a new Industrial Policy in May 2017. Since the last Industrial Policy announced in 1991, India has transformed into one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With strong macro-economic fundamentals and several path breaking reforms in the last three years, India is equipped to deploy a different set of ideas and strategies to build a globally competitive Indian industry. The new Industrial Policy will subsume the National Manufacturing Policy.

A consultative approach has been taken for industrial policy formulation wherein six thematic focus groups and an online survey on DIPP website have been used to obtain inputs. Focus groups, with members from government departments, industry associations, academia, and think tanks have been setup to delve deep into challenges faced by the industry in specific areas. The six thematic areas include Manufacturing and MSME; Technology and Innovation; Ease of Doing Business; Infrastructure, Investment, Trade and Fiscal policy; and Skills and employability for the future. A Task Force on Artificial Intelligence for India’s Economic Transformation has also been constituted which will provide inputs for the policy.

It is proposed that the new Industrial Policy will aim at making India a manufacturing hub by promoting ‘Make in India’. It will also suitably incorporate the use of modern smart technologies such as IOT, artificial intelligence and robotics for advanced manufacturing.

Hon’ble Minister of State(i/c) for Commerce & Industry Smt Nirmala Sitharaman will hold consultations with stakeholders, including industry captains, think tanks and State governments in Chennai, Guwahati and Mumbai. The Industrial Policy is likely to be announced in October 2017.

DIPP invites comments, feedback, suggestions from the public regarding framing of the new Policy.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 25th September, 2017.

Dear prime minister modi Hum apane desh me banane wale sabhi product par Made in India lebble lagana aniwary karna chahihe. Jisase log apne desh me banane wali sabhi product kharid sake. Japan America jaise desk ke sath milakar unki technology aur hamare lebour milkat cheap product banakar unko export karne par bhar dena chahiye. Aur robotic and AI industry sath milkar bharat me industry ko badava dena chahiye. Export base SEZ banane chahiye aur cheap product bane ispar dyan dena chahiye

& also the successful implementation of GST had lead to the ease of doing business... in these three years ,its only because of good governance & the proper planning, that kept inflation overall under control...many new projects also being framed...our country’s economy has always survived during impact of global recession many times in past as well...! Dear Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, Sir,Our new policy should be framed in a balanced way..just like our Indian Economy more or less a balanced one..In our country,it’s a well known fact,that many knows micro economy plays an important role ,based on its vast size of population..balancing both Job Seekers and Job Creators..its necessary to boost Make in India at a quickest speed to further accelerate the pace of macro economic growth competing with neighboring countries...Thank you !

dear sir, first of all the i tell about e commerce online plateform to being redevelop and stop for unuseful website to trade in india and other country better in some of other sector like steel industry and many other the process of new forum enter is easy but some time unusal company are open and they easy to get loan and make froud think that govt will pay for this please to stop this also include some policies hard for this .

My Dear Honorable PM, I appreciate for all the initiatives you have taken focusing on the future like"Make In India". I have been bidding tenders in the central government establishments like CSIR-CLRI,Chennai.The purchase orders are issued to the lowest bidder by default, but the machines supplied are Made in China.hence we lose our orders to make here in India I request your goodself to direct all central and state establishments to give preferences and priority Indian made products.
