Ministry of Electronics and IT has drafted a Data Centre policy to benefit the Data Centre park developers/Data Centre operators as well as the allied ecosystem of the Data Centre sector. The policy envisages making India a Global Data Centre hub, promote investment in the sector, propel digital economy growth, enable provisioning of trusted hosting infrastructure to fulfill the growing demand of the country and facilitate state of the art service delivery to citizens. This document lays out a policy framework including various structural / regulatory interventions, investment promotion in the sector, possible Incentivization mechanisms along with the institutional mechanism required for the governance. The policy framework also seeks to strengthen the recently announced “AatmaNirbhar Bharat” initiative by identifying possible opportunities of manufacturing of Data Centre equipment (IT as well as non-IT) in the country. It also identifies possible areas of participation by MSMEs and Start-ups.

The policy intends to ensure sustainable and trusted Data Centre capacity within the country. This policy framework shall be followed by a detailed scheme with implementation guideline document providing the particulars of various fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to be provided to the sector by the Central and State Government.

For the same, Ministry of Electronics and IT invites citizen suggestions on the Draft Data Center Policy 2020.

I think the segregation of data center should be three level. first levels will be district , second level at division level. third level will be state / center level for respective data with center being regulatory body. data center with common security handled by third party other than data center handler and service of same shoud be shared with individual/private/public offices.

Hon.PM Sir, Data integrity is one of the most prime security in India. Besides as much as I know , there should be divisions in data security and data surveillance such as Mobile, Laptop , Institutional, financial and Government Sectors. We should able for Vulnerable and suspected data breaches and security breaches tracking. India should go ahead with more than 256 bit SSL encoding security for the government sectors. Rest is with India's best IT engineers. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat

Dear Sirs, The document looks like a beginning is being made but nothing concrete is put in black and white. This type of Policy Papers will only get an expression of interest from industry leaders but to transform it into reality will be very difficult. A very tough stand needs to be taken by the Central Government to provide Infrastructure like LAND, POWER, etc and identify existing pockets in industrial/institutional areas which are well guarded and secured for POWER WATER supply etc.

India DATA is playing with once carriers. First= DATA Second= LAW Third= Misused DATA, Fourth = LAW did not take action. Fifth = LAW should be strong(minimum punishment: hang till death) and it work like CLOCK. Conclusion: Fifth point important to get First point.
