I tried to open the account of all the labours working in my factory. The bank insists that each person shall come to the respective branch for opening the account and then again for collection of Rupay card. This way we will have to allow the labours two days paid leave. Why shall I bear this cost? Why not the bank can make a rule that for a minimum of x numbers they will send the officer for opening of the accounts and the Rupay card will be despatched to the respective address by Regd Post

All the workers of NREGA & other government schemes should have a bank account ( Jan Dhan Yojna) . The salaries/pay need to be credited in those respective accounts. Surely will reduce some corruption of middleman.

4 steps suggested for covering all HHs: 1) For Govt: identify non-bank a/c holders from census, voter list, UIDAI card & ration card for each ward or panchayat in the country & send list of non-A/C holders to bank branches in each ward. 2) For Banks: Employ temp. staff in each bank branch to encourage non-A/C holders to open A/Cs in their coverage area. Provide help desks in each bank for customer assistance 4) Incentivize local politicians/NGOs/volunteers in this drive.

As of now it is banks who are putting up boards and creating awareness to open an account. Since citizens who do not have account will not look at board near the banks and many may not even know to read, it is not reaching each and every household. It would be a great idea if people from banks visit each and every household in the area and help them open the account.
