The Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), U.T, Chandigarh has taken serious cognizance of the increasing pollution levels in the airs of the city. Pollution occurs in many forms including Air, Water, Soil & Noise pollution.

The CPCC has expressed serious concern over the contamination of the overall environment as the sources of pollution don't simply have a negative impact on the natural world, but also have a measurable effect on the health of human beings also.

In this direction, the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee has decided to engage the citizens of the city for their invaluable suggestions/ideas/opinions/practical solutions to put a check on increasing levels of all types of pollution in Chandigarh.

The CPCC hereby appeals to the city residents to participate in huge number in order to equip the CPCC with more and more innovative and practical solutions/ideas (which are implementable) to curb the problems arising out of different kind of pollution.

Promote Cycling. I suggest that, the office bearers in government and other bigger organisations shall start using cycles for going to offices. This will put a deep impact on public at general and along with reducing the pollution level, it will also help in moving towards a healthy society.

Domestic solar cookers should be promoted. LPG and other fossil fuel burning will reduce for cooking. Pollution will reduce.

Instead of non productive things like BRT please have a dedicated and fenced off lane for cyclists amd pedestrians only. Heavy fine for violators. A safe cycling environment will be conducive for people to switch over to cycles. Also all govt offices timings to be changed to 0700 to 1500. This will result in fewer vehicles on the road at the same time and hence no bottle necks. This means less pollution. Finally make pollution a topic for education in schools and colleges.

For every new construction offer and incentive in the form of reduced license fees for every 10% of applied load being met thrpugh captive solar plant. Apply it to all publc buildings such as malls and govt buildings etc. Alao make rainwater harvesting mandatory by law. Lastly like seatbelts make it mandatory to have a GPS in cars. This will result in planned travel and less time spent on the road lost. Also have a website that shows pollution in various localities so that people can choose.

Following steps can be taken: * Encourage youth(specially students to use Bicycle instead of motorbikes and scooters). * A centralized car pooling app can be made for people whose daily rout is fixed. (Like which vehicle has how many seats free , its source and destination. etc...) * Old Autos, Buses etc , which produces more pollution should be banned by PCB.

All vehicles beyond 10 years age should be certified emission free by the state government every year. Strict laws for emission control of polluting vehicles and industries like scrapping of polluting vehicles and heavy penalty/imprisonment of authorities for violating pollution control norms.
