Prevent entry of untreated waste which is one of the biggest pollutants in rivers. Just before start of monsoon organize removing silt accumulations from all major drainage canals in the city. Use treated water from water treatment plant for green belt development, civil construction , washing and cleaning etc. Ban construction company using ground water instead of treated water from the treatment plant. Conserve water, convert Trichy into a green city and save environment .

Trichy has municipal waste, aggregate quarry, cement plants, rag pickers and cultivation land. City may employ rag pickers to segregate organic and inorganic waste and produce the gas which can be used as energy to run bus and top class manure to supply to farmers. Inorganic waste like plastic can be used for making eco friendly road. The municipal waste and sewage sludge can be used in Cement plants to save fossil fuel. Trichy can turn the waste into cash by proper planning and execution

Trichy SMART CITY should have a well planned layout, at the outskirt as the extension to the existing city, to be at a reasonable distance from Rockfort,Srirangam, Kallanai dam separated by a well developed park along the Cauveri river a green belt around the city, well connected to the International airport,Railway junction and national highways. The best location could be along the Cauvery river in between Kallanai road and two national Highways NH 45B& NH67.

MAIN GAURD GATE AREA (5)
In fact if anyone, carefully analyse the ”MAIN GUARD GATE AREA, the Road Junction inclusive of the Mahatma Gandhi Statue”, can be converted into a WORLD CLASS ROUNDABOUT with a big Round About having Flower Plants in the middle, Signal Lamps, Sign Boards, Pedestrian Crossing, Speed Breakers (Where ever required) and Centre median in all 4 directions. This should be considered under SMART CITY Project.

MAIN GAURD GATE AREA (4)
8. In order to slow down the vehicles the multiple speed breakers are required.
9. Kindly note that at Main Guard Gate and Rock fort Area, the speed of the vehicle is not important. But the safety of the common public is most important.
So, immediate attention is required on all the above points. If it is not possible now at least under the SMART CITY Project all these points to be considered to improve the safety of the public.

MAIN GAURD GATE AREA (3)
6. Provide a pedestrian crossing for both the roads (Church and Rock fort Roads) and multiple speed breakers in such a way the public cross the road safely.
7. Further in between Holy Cross College and Banana-Leaf Restaurant another speed breaker is required to cross the road safely. There is a Pedestrian crossing, but there is no speed breaker. Here also no vehicle stops for the public to cross the road.

MAIN GAURD GATE AREA (2)
3. To take of this, make multiple speed breakers in such a way that the vehicles cannot move fast.
4. The speed limit should be 10 KMs and place a CCTV camera to catch hold of the speedy vehicles.
5. Further all the Buses which are going towards Chathiram Bus Stand, Stop in front of the Church. There is no pedestrian crossing at that point. All are crossing the road by jumping the Centre median and by risking their life.

MAIN GAURD GATE AREA (1)
As on today, the Main Guard Gate Area, requires lot of improvement to take care of the SAFETY OF COMMON PUBLIC who come from different parts of the district.
1. The pedestrian SIGNAL LAMP is NOT working and there is only Signal Post, without Signal Lamp, just in front of Main Guard Gate.
2. All people are struggling to cross the road. No Vehicle stops to allow people to cross the road.

The smartest outcomes can be achieved through the intelligent application of basic technologies. For example, the single most important ingredient in a smart transport system is walking, the most basic of technologies. All public transport systems are based on walking the first and last mile – yet, walkability is totally ignored in Indian urban design.
