One ingredient of a city’s success is its ability to take along all sections of society. This is particularly true of a large emerging economy like India where the urban landscape will have to absorb hundreds of millions of migrants from rural areas over the next couple of decades.

Sanitation and hygienic living conditions will need a much larger vision. Thelocal authorities need to crack down on polluters, move towards cleaner fuels and lower emissions by industries and vehicles, and start protecting rivers and lakes. To ensure all liquid waste gets treated and not to dump into rivers and lakes. Untreated liquid waste from households and industries is one of the biggest pollutants in rivers. Reward /punishment for the department on the implementation of green city norms

Just before start of every monsoon, the Corporation has to organise removing silt accumulations from all major drainage canals in the city to ensure no water logging in the road to prevent mosquito problem & also for rain water conservation. Concerned department has to inspect and take immediate action for renovation of shutters in sluices in the tail-end parts of the district as the damaged or not having shutters will result in irrigation water causing extensive damage to standing crops

In Trichy we can find uncollected municipal waste in places and can see residents put fire and pollute the environment. Very few city has advantage of having cement plants around the city whereas Trichy has about 10 kilns .From the compost yard the corporation may divert municipal waste & sewage sludge for cement production or may use it for power generation with help of BHEL, which will help in saving natural resources , reduction of CO2 emission,solving problem of waste disposal,etc

Trichy should involve industries around Trichy like BHEL and cement plants for the purpose of converting municipal waste, sewage, etc into useful energy and to take all measures to reduce pollution from industries. Having sun light around the year should go for Solar in a big way, compulsory for new buildings and tax benefits for going solar in the existing houses. Encroachment from lakes to be removed, stop sand stealing from the river bed and go for rain water harvesting and green development

Trichy can make use of its potential;
- Hot hotter and hottest days sun light and go for solar energy
- presence of BHEL for producing power from waste material
- presence of many Cement plants to use municipal waste, sewage sludge and rice husk as fuel and avoid waste dumping land
- river base and lot of cultivation
- Go for generating kitchen garden with organic manure from house hold waste and avoid pesticides
TRICHY GO FOR GREEN CITY AND LEAD FROM THE FRONT !

Close all open drains as it is the biggest primary source of various diseases. Set up sewerage treatment plants to get methane to generate power,divert wastewater from the plant for non-potable use and the sewage sludge to Cement plants as fuel. Wastewater also can be used for biomass production and conversion of the biomass into bio-energy produce higher yields of the raw materials for bio-fuel.We can turn the waste into cash and also save environment
