Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation has been ranked first among 12 cities selected for implementing Smart City project in Tamil Nadu and is gaining momentum to get shortlisted in the final round of Smart City Challenge where 20 cities would be selected in the first year.

The vibrant citizens of Tiruchirappalli are requested to post their views pertaining to municipal and city’s basic infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, waste management, transport, parking, energy,housing, IT solutions,safety and security. Residents are encouraged to give their ideas and suggestions at city level as well as local area level solutionsin Tiruchirappalli.

In-vehicle sensors will record the location and severity of a pothole or other road hazard misaligned drain or manhole covers, for instance – and push that data into a cloud-based computing platform. From there, the data is available in real time to other connected cars so drivers can avoid making the same mistake, as well as to local street repair authorities to help identify and prioritize maintenance.

A comfortable working environment increases productivity. However, the fastest growing component of power demand in cities is for cooling by air conditioners. Unless cooling efficiency is increased dramatically, cooling for comfort will not be sustainable.

need to be designed to cope with monsoonal inundations, and create urban environments where people can move in the shade of trees, shelter from rain, and where buildings promote the flow of air throughout the urban environment. In tropical cities trees and plants grow readily; these become the defining feature of great tropical cities – abundant green and cooling shade creates a beautiful urban setting.

Smart roads - Intelligent Highways with warning messages and diversions according to climate conditions and unexpected events like accidents or traffic jams. Image and Video Analytics: Traffic management, security and surveillance, homeland security, smarter healthcare, etc.

Electromagnetic field levels – Measurement of the energy radiated by cell stations and Wi-Fi routers. Traffic Congestion - Monitoring of vehicles and pedestrian levels to optimize driving and walking routes. Smart lighting - Intelligent and weather adaptive lighting in street lights.

Smartphone detection - Detect smart phones and in general any device which works with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interfaces.
