Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation has been ranked first among 12 cities selected for implementing Smart City project in Tamil Nadu and is gaining momentum to get shortlisted in the final round of Smart City Challenge where 20 cities would be selected in the first year.

The vibrant citizens of Tiruchirappalli are requested to post their views pertaining to municipal and city’s basic infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, waste management, transport, parking, energy,housing, IT solutions,safety and security. Residents are encouraged to give their ideas and suggestions at city level as well as local area level solutionsin Tiruchirappalli.

Let us join hands together in making Tiruchirappalli a global Smart City!

Use the following to make a smart city: Map crime data to aid their public safety work Locate pipes, pumps, cables and other assets to help better monitor and analyse the efficacy of their water infrastructure Maximize traffic flow and share helpful traffic maps with the public Conduct better environmental impact assessments for their buildings and parks Spatial decision-making is greatly improved

The place selected can be Chatiram Busstand. It lacks basic infra viz parking, bus shelter, bus bay. Simultaneously a cable car above the River Cauveri could be built to connect Srirangam. Theme park(long felt need) on the Srirangam side could be established to bring greenery and entertainment to Trichy. Usage of cable car to Srirangam reduces buses, thus 50 percent of the chatiram traffic and cuts on emissions. Cable car brings tourism &permanent revenue to gov and hence maintenance is easy.

We really need proper functioning traffic signals. We need to make people, even pillion riders wear helmets for their safety. Market area has to be made clean, it smells very badly, re-locating it outside the city would be best. Quality of buses should be improved.Air conditioned buses can be given a trial. Please complete the unfinished flyovers.More tourists can be attracted if it is possible to allow boating near kallani dam, when there is water.

The government offices (passport/RTO/tax/jda) should be upgraded and made world class like you see hotel lobbies and other IT firms. It puts a huge change in their functioning too
