Kota has been selected in the list of 100 Smart Cities announced in August 2015. Currently, Kota Nagar Nigam is in process of preparing the Smart City Proposal, which would form the basis for selecting the First 20 Smart Cities – for implementation from 2016. The Smart City Proposal is your proposal – the voice of Kota. We request each and every citizen of Kota to share his / her suggestions for area based developments in Kota.

The possible modes of area based development under Smart City Mission Guidelines are as follows:

1. GREENFIELD DEVELOPMENT: It is development of vacant land using innovative planning, plan financing and plan implementation tools, including most of the Smart features/solutions. It will be linked to an existing ecosystem (satellite development, i.e. ~5-20 km from existing urban area) and have no significant existing developments in immediate vicinity. Further, the development will promote mixed land use thereby catering to most needs of its residents internally. Possible options for pilot Greenfield developments include (indicative only) areas around Indraprastha Industrial Area, Kota Bypass Road, Aerodrome, Lakhawa, Sambhopoora, etc.

2. RETROFITTING: It would involve improvement in existing infrastructure service levels of the identified area to make it more efficient and liveable. Existing structures would largely remain intact in this model, and infrastructure would be upgraded to more intensive service levels and a large number of smart applications will be packed suitably. Retro-fitting would be taken up on a selected area of ~500 acres initially as a pilot project. Upon successful implementation, this can be suitably replicated in other such areas across the city. Possible options for pilot retrofitting projects (indicative only) include Bhimganj Mandi – Bapu Colony, Chawani, Old walled city area, Indraprastha, etc.

3. REDEVELOPMENT: It would involve replacement of the existing built-up environment and enable co-creation of a new layout with enhanced infrastructure using mixed land use and increased density. Such redevelopment can be in the form of a mixed use development, including suitable residential units for rehabilitation and resettlement of existing land users / owners. Possible options for redevelopment (indicative only) are Chambal riverfront, Chawani, bastis near Aerodrome Circle, etc.

Suggestions are invited from citizens of Kota to suggest options to be taken up for area based development under Smart City Proposal. Please respond with your choice of model (1. Greenfield / 2. Retrofitting / 3. Redevelopment) and suggest suitable areas for this.

The last date to submit your suggestions / comments is 4th December, 2015.

Citizens can also reach us through the official website: www.smartcitykota.com which is a nodal site for Kota for all information on the Smart City Challenge.

Old city ke renovate karo. Wo kota ki shaan hai aur waha pein abhi galat development ho raha hain. Koi regulation hi nahi hain. Usko Jaipur ke Walled City ke tarah banana chahiye.

All the coaching instituted should be thrown of the main city area and relocated outside with good facilities for the students. This will reduce congestion in the city also.

Yeah, chambal riverfront is a good idea. We should first clean chambal river and them develop it. Water adventure activities can also be introduced.

Talwandi area has so much high density because of the students. The roads are also not very good and open nalah follow creating bad odour. This area should be developed so that incoming students and residents get good facilities
