Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

Develop Cemetery more like parks comparable to ones in foreign countries with all amenities. Better looking and pleasing to eye.

Solar Farms for alternative energy. Please setup solar farms on the abundant land available at Mumigatti where IIT is coming up. The land is ideal for solar Farms.

*Initiation of metro train/mono rail between hubli and dharwad city as more citizens travel between them daily.*dust free roads*meters should be made compulsory in autos*all govt office working must be digitized,no more paper works.*Tourism needs to be improved.*Creating the huge Employment opportunities for unemployees of this region.*providing safety and social security.

1)Need more crematoria and burial grounds2)Develop skill development centres3)Promote handicrafts like kasuthi embroidary unique to the twin cities.4)model schools with all ameneties and facilitiesin each ward5)heath unit in each ward

1)Prevent road cutting forteiephone linesetc. make the roads like tendersure roads of Bengaluru where the pedestrian walk ways are wide and the cables ,pipe lines go under the walk way where there are inspection windowsalso include cycling paths.2)garbage segregation at site .use garbage togenerate electricity and as compost.3)water treatment plants to treat and recycle waste water.

One of the important thing that should be treated is the transportation facility. And the the roads should be reconstructed because there are many potholes and due to this there are many accidents occurring. Especially the roads which connects to IT park and educational institutions.
