Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

Let’s join together to make Hubballi-Dharwad as a Smart City.

The developments in the country inturn in the state should be equally distributed among the cities. In this regard I request government of India to select Hubballi-Dharwad under the category of "Smart City". The attached pdf contains more information. Thank you!

Chenamma circle should have underpass connecting NH 63 to sholapur road and old bus stand to railway station.Water supply system & garbage dispensing should not become an avenue for business in the guise of 24*7 & SWM. High court order WP66400/2012&70763-781/12 for creating hawking zone should be strictly implemented.Ring road to connect 3 national highway.Lung space to be developed opp airport where a 40 acre lake and green belt is available.One ways to be in clockwise or anticlockwise.

My vision of smart city is that as follows if at all it is seriously implemented. The citizens of Hubli Dharwad should have an effortless means of travelling on the city roads, good and sufficient water supply, clean roads and garbage dispensing, walkable pedestrians footpaths with sufficient lighting. For implementing these following points can be considered.( 1) If Hubli roads are divided diagnolly in a crisis cross pattern considering the traffic density, the following roads need to be paid a

Hi, I am attaching a file, with some suggestions to convert Hubballi-Dharwad twin cities into smart twin cities. I hope the committee members would look at points (5), (6) and (7) in particular. 1) Wide Roads which hubli dharwad lacks , being 2nd capital of state. small towns compared to hubli have much wider roads 2) Development is nice but Greenery in and around city is must like parks , trees on the centre or both sides of road. 3) Parking Facility... with parking complexes 4) compulsory parking space for each and every building old and new buildings also. 5) Trained Hdmc officials to intract with citizens for every problem and guide them.

In respect to smart city concept,business,economic,infrastructure development are OK, but, the real development of social harmony,human development,cultural development, etc.things are very important for peace,harmony and fruitfull helping nature of people.For that,there should be YOGA,SPIRITUAL,PRAYER CENTRE in CITY.There should be no crime & no accused,Jail should be paid & luxurious with all accommodation like AC,bed-sofa,pure bhojan-breakfast,TV but no mobile-net as per jail manual strictly
