Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

Neglected Lakes, tanks and wetlands in Hubli Dharwad cities are severely encroached upon and rapidly perishing. Smart cities cannot be built without rejuvenating and protecting the local bodies. Make rain water harvesting compulsory for all big apartments and all houses People digging roads for any reason shall set it right, if not penalties shall be imposed by municipal corporation Encouraging people to plant trees in front of their houses LED lights to replace street lights Weekly supervision by authority to review progress Set up dust bins near footpaths say each at a distance of 100 meters. 1.ALL THE GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS TERRACES SHOULD BE USED FOR SOLAR ENERGY. 2.TWO OLD BUS STANDS CAN BE CONVERTED AS MULTILEVEL PARKING BUILDINGS,GOVERNMENT OFFICES,CITY BUS STAND,ETC. BCOZ BOTH ARE PLACED IN THE CITY CENTER. 3.ALL THE OPEN SITES/PLOTS SHOULD BE KEPT CLEAN BY THE OWNERS. 4.DISPLY OF THE FUNDS RECEIVED/SPENT BY ELECTED LEADER (CORPORATOR,MLA,MP ETC)IN HIS OFFICE THROUGH THE SERVER CONTROLLED BY STATE/CENTRAL GOVT.

1.The suburbs like Gokul,Navanagar,Bhairidevarkoppa,Unakal,Gopanakoppa,Keshwapur,Gadag road, Mantur road,Tabibland,Settlement area,Bankapur chowk,CBT,Old Hubli etc; needs to be connected by MONO RAIL.

6) Keeping the vacant plots clean will the responsibility of the plot owner. If found dirty, the owner should be made to pay penalty. 7) We should create local circles to keep the area clean and this can be the area society. They should levy the penalty for dirty plots.
