Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

*I am very happy with this smart city message if the following conditions are satisfied. *I wish the road between this twin city should be nice and clean without any dust creating nature. *Provide sufficient WiFi facility between this twin city, especially in bus stands. *Lastly please provide traffic police for crossing roads because of huge traffic has become common these days.

HUBLI-DHARWAD IS THE SECOND LARGEST POPULATED DISTRICT IN KARNATAKA.SO,THIS CITY HAS MORE NUMBER OF VEHICLES,BUT THE ROADS ARE VERY NARROW.TO MAKE A SMART CITY OF TWIN-CITY FIRST CASE TO WIDE THE ROADS AND GIVING MORE IMPORTANCE TO TRANSPORT. 1.CONSTRUCT A PROPER ROADWAYS IN BETWEENN THE CITIES. 2.MAKE THE METRO ROUTE IN BETWEEN THE TWIN_CITIES. 3.PROPER PLAN HAS BEEN DEVELOP FOR UNCERGROUND GAS SUPPLY. 4.PROPER WATER SUPPLY IN ALL THE AREAS.

24*7 electricity and water supply. Widen the roads and build fly-overs to reduce the traffic concentration at one place. Maintain cleanliness in the city and proper disposal of garbage. Government official's processes should be fastened. wi-fi accessibility everywhere. Develop small scale industries.
