Swati Chaturvedi, the founder and CEO of the online investment platform Propel(x), which connects early-stage Deep Tech with investors, is credited with coining the term "deep tech." Deep tech startups are those whose business models are built on significant scientific advancements or high tech technical innovations. Deep tech sectors like artificial intelligence (AI), advanced materials, blockchain, biotechnology, robotics, drones, photonics, and quantum computing are developing from early research to commercial applications at an ever-increasing rate. It resembles a new industrial revolution in that our daily lives and workplaces are drastically altered by new platform technologies and infrastructures.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the economy and caused extensive lockdowns at work, among other previously unheard-of changes to the workplace. But it has also created new possibilities for growth and employment, especially in sectors that have embraced the digital transformation and made investments in skill-building. With its emphasis on technology, data analysis, and automation, Industry 4.0 has gained traction and opened up new opportunities for workers to acquire new skills, reinvent their careers, and remain on the cutting edge. For success in this new world, the Unlearn, Relearn, and Reskill principle is vital. Companies need to establish a welcoming culture that values ongoing learning and development if they are to completely reap the rewards of this principle. Initiatives like on-the-job training programs, online courses, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing sessions can help accomplish this.

Artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, and bioengineering are examples of new technologies that have been made possible by the rapid rise in computing capability and the sharp decline in computing prices. Although it is well recognised that the youthful population can adapt to new technological advancements, it is crucial to remember that young people do not constitute a homogenous group. Accessibility, knowledge, motivation, and other factors all play a role in how successfully these new technologies are used. The percentage of youngsters who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET) has gone up for both men and women, going from 13.1% in 2019 to 15.3% in 2020 for males and 30.3% in 2019 to 31.10% in 2020 for women.
