In the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat on 27th September 2020, Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi spoke about the art of storytelling. He mentioned that the history of stories is as ancient as the human civilization itself. ‘Where there is a soul, there is a story’.

As we are going to celebrate 75 years of independence, Prime Minister urged storytellers across the Nation to share stories of many inspiring events during the entire period of our enslavement. Especially, from 1857 to 1947, stories around every major or minor incident during this period can be introduced to our new generation.

“May this art of storytelling become stronger in the country, become more popularized and easier to imbibe - this is something we must all strive for”: PM Narendra Modi

Do you know of any inspiring event during the 1857-1947 freedom struggle that isn’t so well known? Maybe a long-forgotten hero who did not get as much prominence as he/she deserved? Maybe an incident which played a minor but important role in our struggle? A story you might have heard from a family elder, many years ago?

Tell us, we will feature your story for all Indians!

Share your story in the form of a video, audio clip, picture or essay.

He was one of the initial rebels of India. Khan was part of the 1857 freedom struggle and among the 14 people who were given capital punishment due to their role in the freedom movement. Even still, his work inspired many who followed. But generations later, his name just faded away.

Tara Rani Srivastava is one of the unsung heroes of India’s freedom struggle who was undeterred even after she saw her husband being shot at by the police during a protest. She continued to lead the crowd while holding the tricolour high and did not let personal loss come in way of her duty towards the nation.

When we talk about freedom movement firstly the entire text book must be revised, modified and corrected. The importance of Subhash Chandra Bose must be highlighted which would inculcate the real love for independence in our kids. The Gandhian story as professed by Congress has made to understand that we got freedom by Non Co-operation and being stubbornly non working. It gives absolutely wrong signals in the growing kids. There are numerous freedom fighter who are ignored.Nehru chacha! Builshit

Salute to all freedom fighters.

In a traditional way Historians might disagree with this sentiment because before the British imperialism the Mughal empire sad its own weaknesses with Indian Rulers fighting against each other for land and power. But, Gandhi writes that Indians had a sense of nationalism not in the sense as is it perceived in the western world. Though Indians may have been living under different rulers but India is a nation because of the nature of the undivided land as if geographically speaking.

Why is everyone calling it as "Glorious struggle"? Was it 'Glorious'? Who will accept it? Will the govt. of Britain ever accept what they have done? We should think about present. How we can make India AHEAD OF BRITAIN. That shall be REAL TRIBUTE to all freedom fighters. When we all will understand this? I don't know it, but there is a HOPE in my heart and will remain till my end!
