India has a rich legacy of practices and knowledge touching different spheres of life and a scientific heritage traversing various Science & Technology (S&T) domains. The traditional knowledge of India is available in various forms such as classical texts, manuscripts and/or as oral communication that has been passed on over thousands of years. This valuable knowledge is often part of our daily practices as well. Some of the traditional practices are livelihood means of the concerned knowledge holders. Our traditional practices exist in synergy between human needs and nature, often balancing resources and requirements in a local context. However, with time, India’s Traditional Knowledge Systems are eroding rapidly, and the nation has also been witnessing erosion in people’s faith towards our traditional knowledge. A grave concern is the mindless attitude of some to mimic non-Indian cultures and disdain for our traditions. It’s important to recognize that traditional heritage is an integral part of any country’s development and progression. This calls for necessary attention and action from the concerned stakeholders in the country to build further on our scientific inheritance. Only a well-informed and balanced society can drive the advancement of the country.

Under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and President, CSIR Society, Shri Narendra Modi, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is spearheading the efforts to collaborate with the relevant partners from across the country and implement the national initiative SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) for communicating India’s traditional knowledge to the society. CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) is the nodal organization to implement this national initiative.

The prime mission of the initiative is to conserve scientifically validated traditional practices, and instil confidence in citizens regarding the scientific values of our traditional knowledge/practices.

We invite the suggestions of academicians, researchers, subject-matter experts, students, NGOs, and the public on how to instil confidence in society about our traditional knowledge and practices. This will help us in our mission to inculcate a scientific temper and instil confidence in citizens by stimulating the Science-Scientist-Society connect towards our traditional knowledge and practices.

IDEA TO PROMOTE SANSKRIT LANGUAGE IN VERY SUBTLE MANNER: A step towards promoting Sanskrit language is to write Sanskrit version of all major signboard s. This includes all Government sign boards, public sign boards, Descriptions written in Historical places, etc.... Today, these signboards are either in English or Hindi or Both. Government should make it mandatory to provide Sanskrit version of all these signboards along with English and Hindi. This way, people will start learning common words and it will become easier for them to understand a few words in Sanskrit. This will be slow but it will make big difference in the long run. This may be a first step to make Sanskrit as National language if that is desired.

Respected Sir, Use and creation of awareness about tradtional methods to control insect pests in agricultural crops is the prime need at present to conserve and sustain our environment and ecosystem. Dusting/use of fuel wood ash on vegetable crops avoid damage to crops from insect pests by providing less congenial surface for chewing and egg laying, use of Farm Yard Mannure imstead of synthetic fertilizers, Hoeing and weeding manually expose the soil born insect pest stages to sun light and lead to their death, Use of Neem seeds and leaves extract as insect pest repellent, use of tradtional ploughing help in less distrubance to soil properties. These tradtional methods must be conserved and given utmost importance to conserve our ecosystem. Let us save our earth. Regards to all.

IDEA TO UNITE CULTURE PROBLEM I SEE: Some Indians are not considered Indians for example, people from North East do not get proper recognition as Indians in many parts of the country. Same is true for other states. SOLUTION APPROACH: A way to Mix cultures. Example: International Airport in Ahmedabad of Gujarat is named "Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport", but everyone knows Sardar Patel in Gujarat. It would be much better if an Airport in Gujarat is named as " Shahid Kanaklata Barua International Airport" where "Kanaklata Barua" is freedom fighter from Assam. While Assam's Airport can be named after "Zawerchand Meghani" & Hyderabad Airport is named after "Guru Govind Singh". Similarly, every state government should be given the responsibility to declare one state holiday based on an important event/festival of another state. This way people will feel more United than before.

India, our esteemed nation is known for culture and heritage. It is our responsibility to protect and preserve our pristine culture. Passing on the rich and ethnic practices is everyone's duty too. Spreading human values and following inherently shall be the norm. Our country is the only nation which considers heritage and science together. At any point of time and for any reason, we shall not forget it. Jai Hind

Einstein's Relativinty Theory starts with prescription of speed of light as limiting speed and works out everything is relative to that. Quantum Mechanics says an object comes into being only when its position is measured, surprisingly Science now also admits there's something beyond maximally visible universe Only Indian Traditional Knowledge Systems like Vaishnavism starts with defining with macro concept that Krishna is the essence of material things and anything not connected to Him is not what it appears to be.It defines Jivatma, part and parcel of Krishna, has the intelligence and freewill to decide how to connect the object seen with Krishna and is a minute fragment of Him. Clearly there is scope to build a new science with appropriate language to solve. Unsolved problems in science which is generally micofocussed

india is the hub of traditional knowledge practices indigenous knowledge. giving modern look to the traditional knowledge and practice and mainstreaming the indigenous knowledge is the biggest challenge. KVIC and DST can form a joint forum to support modernisation of IK community enterprise model could be useful.. Industry connect and incubation also can be useful.

The government can create short animated educational videos which will highlight our traditional practices and the science behind them to make those practices much more convincing to the present society. Every traditional value has a scientific aspect behind it but somehow we don’t talk about the science and we only preach “do this”, “ do that” which sometimes people tend to think as superficial and superstition. Therefore highlighting the science is important. These short videos can then be released in social media platforms or mass consumption.

Sir The education system needs to be improved to produce responsible citizens. it should be value based and skill based. Students may be categorised based on IQ not on chronological age . Agriculture should be integrated with the school curriculum.Envonmental education is to introduced right from primary school
