The role of new and renewable energy has been increasing significantly in recent times with the growing concern for the country's energy security. To achieve energy self-sufficiency, it is necessary to deploy new and renewable energy for supplementing the energy requirements of our country. So, we ask you to suggest ways for encouraging the use of renewable energy on this open discussion forum.

Central Govt. is trying to push Solar/Renewable energy generation very hard but there is no system to enter PPA by concerned area utilites. PPA take very long time and followup. So also there no linkage to connect with utilities.

1. Huge investment needed for research on extracting from agriculture based sources and agricultural industry waste and have to put a full stop for mineral oil energy based business lobby. 2.Subsidy/tax exemption for those who install mini solar plant (anywhere) and also for those who install bio-gas plant. 3.Strict rule to install solar plants on all commercial plots (having collective income more than 10lpa and on all govt offices

My submission relates to wind energy where one key problem here is availability of good sites with measured wind data. Underlying issue is that the best sites have been taken up long time back with old generation, smaller wind turbines. With the turbine technology what it is today, much better generation is possible at those sites but so called 're-powering' has practical hurdles. If a suitably policy can be formulated to push re-powering, it can lead to big boost to wind energy.

Do the Indian Government has guts to set up state owned Solar Cell Manufacturing plant without any bureaucratic & politicians interference. This will solve 99.9% of our present and future energy needs. Himmat hi... We Indians very good at bla bla and beating around the bush.

3. Encouraging each and every sector to promote solar energy generation. The most inspiring example is Gujarat’s Canal Solar Power Project. Railways (Railway stations), Telecom (Cellular sites), Health (Hospitals) should have solar generation as alternate source. To encourage these, government should work towards developing the eco system in large scale so that the solution viability is guaranteed to both manufacturers and consumers.

2. Domestic rooftop solar drive: Support from state governments by providing CAPEX subsidy/loan for the domestic rooftop installations. Setting the target for each state say 100000 houses to be installed with solar rooftop solutions or generating 500 MW of solar power through domestic rooftops. Integration of Rooftop solar system to grid and transparent energy audit by installing smart meters. Providing relief from grid electricity bills to the citizens who has installed rooftop solar system.
