The PM-JANMAN and Dharti Aaba initiatives by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs mark a transformative step in tribal development. However, to ensure the preservation of India’s rich tribal heritage, there is an urgent need for a dedicated Cultural Economy scheme supporting tribal artisans—particularly musical instrument makers. These craftsmen, often marginalized and economically vulnerable, play a vital role in sustaining indigenous traditions. A targeted financial assistance program, coupled with skill development and market linkages, would empower them to sustain their craft while fostering cultural continuity. Such a scheme would not only uplift livelihoods but also safeguard intangible cultural heritage for future generations.
