The role of tribal communities in Viksit Bharat is multifaceted, spanning environmental stewardship, economic contributions, cultural enrichment, and strategic importance. Their traditional knowledge and sustainable practices offer valuable lessons for building a developed, inclusive, and eco-conscious India by 2047. However, challenges like land alienation, low literacy, and economic marginalization must be addressed through targeted policies and community-led initiatives. By empowering tribal communities with education, healthcare, digital access, and economic opportunities, India can harness their potential to achieve the Viksit Bharat vision. As custodians of India’s soul, tribal communities are not just participants but co-creators of a prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future.

Digital inclusion is another critical area. The Tribal Development Report 2022 underscores the digital divide, with tribal communities often lacking access to smart devices and internet connectivity. Bridging this gap through hyperlocal, culturally attuned digital literacy programs in vernacular languages can empower tribal youth and women to access e-governance, financial services, and e-commerce platforms. The BharatNet project, connecting over 2.14 lakh gram panchayats, supports this goal by enhancing digital infrastructure in tribal areas. Digital ambassadors from tribal communities can drive adoption, ensuring inclusivity in India’s digital growth story.
