Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance or UMANG developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology was inspired from the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister, who said “e-Governance, let us think about ‘mobile first’ and thus give importance to m-Governance”.

On November 23, 2017, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the UMANG Mobile app to the Nation with 163 services. UMANG is an initiative to build a common, unified platform, aggregating major government services of Center, States, local bodies, including important utility services, to facilitate a single point access through mobile app, anytime, anywhere. Citizens need to download just one mobile application and can access multiple services.

UMANG was envisaged to have a transformative and historic impact on the lives of citizens by allowing them to avail digital services on 24*7, without any intermediary. Connected government, effective & economic governance, citizen centricity, inclusiveness, universal access and citizen participation in governance are some of the key benefits of UMANG for citizens as well as the Government.

Within a short period of its successful running, the mobile app bagged the ‘Best m-Government Service’ award at the 6th World Government Summit held at Dubai, UAE, in February 2018. UMANG also won at the IDC Digital Transformation Awards 2018 in August, under the category Omni-experience Innovator, which recognized it as a pioneering initiative.

The ‘Digital India Jury choice award 2018-19’ and DARPG Gold award 2018-19 for ‘Excellence in providing Citizen Centric Delivery’ respectively, were also bestowed upon UMANG. Information dissemination and delivery of government services, for assisting citizens on various aspects of life & livelihood, is being taken to another level through the consolidation of many important and widely used government services onto a single unified mobile app i.e. UMANG

UMANG Team now invites your suggestions for which 3 new services to on-board from State/Central Government departments on to the UMANG Platform.

Please submit your suggestions (comments) latest by 18th January, 2022.

Comments may also be sent by email at: umang.gov@gmail.com

Some changes needed in IRCTC mobile application. 1) When adding member for travelling please provide the option of 'self' to avoid filling all the information every time we try to book tickets. 2) why can't we pay directly through gpay? Once the pay details are confirmed & gpay option is selected, we should be directed to gpay app where we can just insert pin & pay for ticket. 3) Captcha letters should be less than 5 letters & avoid insurance company ads here to avoid spelling mistakes.

I request to a Launch Single Window Solution similar to Google Serch Engine for all government related queries and information to explore all services and schemes announced by government. It should be advertised upon mega scale like Arogya Setu accessible in all languages. Government is doing lot of good work but not able to make it reachable to a common person. It need more transparency and must be accessible on 1 Click through a Search Engine to answer a lay man.
