Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance or UMANG developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology was inspired from the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister, who said “e-Governance, let us think about ‘mobile first’ and thus give importance to m-Governance”.

On November 23, 2017, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the UMANG Mobile app to the Nation with 163 services. UMANG is an initiative to build a common, unified platform, aggregating major government services of Center, States, local bodies, including important utility services, to facilitate a single point access through mobile app, anytime, anywhere. Citizens need to download just one mobile application and can access multiple services.

UMANG was envisaged to have a transformative and historic impact on the lives of citizens by allowing them to avail digital services on 24*7, without any intermediary. Connected government, effective & economic governance, citizen centricity, inclusiveness, universal access and citizen participation in governance are some of the key benefits of UMANG for citizens as well as the Government.

Within a short period of its successful running, the mobile app bagged the ‘Best m-Government Service’ award at the 6th World Government Summit held at Dubai, UAE, in February 2018. UMANG also won at the IDC Digital Transformation Awards 2018 in August, under the category Omni-experience Innovator, which recognized it as a pioneering initiative.

The ‘Digital India Jury choice award 2018-19’ and DARPG Gold award 2018-19 for ‘Excellence in providing Citizen Centric Delivery’ respectively, were also bestowed upon UMANG. Information dissemination and delivery of government services, for assisting citizens on various aspects of life & livelihood, is being taken to another level through the consolidation of many important and widely used government services onto a single unified mobile app i.e. UMANG

UMANG Team now invites your suggestions for which 3 new services to on-board from State/Central Government departments on to the UMANG Platform.

Please submit your suggestions (comments) latest by 18th January, 2022.

Comments may also be sent by email at: umang.gov@gmail.com

I would like to bring to your attention the difficulties faced by the lower middle class and poor with meagre earnings to get a loan at low interest for the renovation and repair of their existing homes! Given this situation, I suggest to have a budgetary proposal for extending low-interest loans for amounts up to five lakhs to those having annual income of Rs.3 lakhs and less, which if accepted will go a long way to redress the situation for the lower income groups!

Tokenisation must be introduced for all work done through the hour, day or week. Personal work can earn few credits, sustainable work high credits. That will encourage working at all times to earn better credits and organise the population as a task force. These credits can be redeemed as self earned cash for self done work. Fulfiled tokens will become valuable currencies. Some work cannot be avoided as cleaning your own house, gardening or driving your own car. For the energy spent, hours lost or work done, one can never earn from self. But with tokenism when one reports daily, more and more credits can be accumulated and that will spur more liquidity into the economy. Besides some undone task under maintainability can also be done for it's value pay against hours spent, by self administering and funding. Job done will get equal pay for all reporting. Surplus gains can be drawn from recognition as has always been. Tokenism must be added to UMANG platform, with a credit rate menu.
