The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

I THINK THAT MAKE TEMPLE VERY ATTRACTIVE THAT HELP TO INCREASE THE ECONOMY OF THAT PLACE AND ALSO IF THE Temple IS BIG THEN IT REDUCE THE UNEMPLOYMENT AND MAKE A STRICT RULE LIKE - PEOPLE THAT COME CARRY THERE OWN BAGS IN BAGS -INCLUDE ONLY WATER BOTTLE, PHONE,AND THERE Necessary THINGS ; BUT WITH DEVELOPMENT WE ALSO Remember SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT INCREASE THE VALUE OF TRESS IN BOUNDARIES OF TEMPLE AND ALSO IN TEMPLE. MAKE A GOOD ROAD AND TRANSPORT SYSTEM FOR THE PEOPLES . AND REDUCE THE USE OF PLASTIC AND THAT SUBSTANCE THAT ARE NON BIODIGRADIBL. THIS MAKE ENVIRONMENT CLEAR AND CLEAN .

I would like to suggest organizing the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Temple Mahashivratri as a Zero-Waste Mahotsav to honor Lord Shiva while protecting nature. A Zero-Waste Mahotsav means reducing, reusing, and recycling resources so that little or no waste is sent to landfills. Lord Shiva is often associated with simplicity and harmony with nature, making this initiative a meaningful tribute. Some practical ideas include: Replace single-use plastic plates, cups, and bottles with reusable or biodegradable alternatives. Set up separate bins for wet waste, dry waste, and recyclable materials throughout the temple premises. Compost flower offerings, leaves, and food waste to create organic manure for temple gardens. Encourage devotees to bring their own water bottles and cloth bags. Use digital banners and online invitations wherever possible to reduce paper waste. Organize awareness campaigns and volunteer teams to guide visitors on proper waste segregation.
