A flaw in the body/organ donation process in Pune, Maharashtra. I am an organ/body donor. For those who do not know, this means I am willing to have my organs/body donated after my passing. The system is flawed. When I signed up for the program it was make clear that organs such as eyes need to be removed within two hours. Other organs are also needed to be donated within a maximum of eight hours. Now the flaw is as such. When one passes, surviving family members needed to first obtain a certificate from a Doctor and then the Death Certificate from the municipal office, given the requirements for obtaining both certificates before the body can be released for donation. Both these processes can take longer than the maximum time needed to remove the organs for donation. (for example, if a death takes place after office hours of the municipal office, one would need to wait till the next day to obtain a death certificate.) Hence making the donation system flawed.
