जिला कलेक्टर दमोह के द्वारा फेसबुक पोस्ट के माध्‍यम से अपील की गई कि दमोह जिले के जो व्यक्ति जिस स्कूल में पढ़े लिखे हैं अगर वे व्यक्ति पढ़कर सक्षम हो गए हैं तो उस व्यक्ति का कर्तव्य बनता है कि वह स्कूल के लिए थोड़ा बहुत कार्य जरूर करें कि वह अपने स्थानीय स्कूलों के सुधार में योगदान दें, चाहे वह खिड़की दरवाज़े की मरम्मत ही क्यों न हो। इसी अपील से प्रेरित होकर श्री उन्नति वेल्डिंग वर्कशॉप के प्रोपाईटर श्री सुरेश राठौर द्वारा निस्वार्थ सेवा का कार्य शुरू किया। उन्‍होंने सबसे पहले अपने ग्राम पंचायत खजरी के सरकारी स्कूल में सुधार कार्य किया। पहले वहाँ बच्चों को टूटे दरवाज़ों और खिड़कियों को खोलने - बंद करने में कठिनाई होती थी, लेकिन मरम्मत के बाद बच्चों की खुशी देखकर उन्‍हें और उत्साह मिला। यह देखकर श्री राठौर ने प्रण लिया कि वे 51 स्कूलों में नि:शुल्क वेल्डिंग और मरम्मत कार्य करेंगे, जिससे बच्चों को सुरक्षित और स्वस्थ वातावरण मिले। अब तक उनके द्वारा 32 स्कूलों में यह सुधार कार्य नि:शुल्क किया जा चुका है और आगे भी वे इसे निस्वार्थ कर्तव्य समझकर जारी रखेंगे।

I respectfully request a review of India’s extramural research funding eligibility criteria, with consideration for senior scientists holding OCI status who return to advance the biomedical field. Alternatively, dedicated funding mechanisms could help retain diaspora expertise and scientific talent. Without reforms, expertise of returning scientists remains underutilized. After nearly 30 years of biomedical research in the US, focused on chemotherapy-induced heart injury and risk prediction in pediatric cancer, I returned to India in 2023 to advance cardio-oncology. Now serving as a Professor, I have proposed expanding a successful U.S.-based study to Indian pediatric population. However, securing extramural funding has been challenging due to restrictive criteria, including age limits, non-tenure-track status, and experience caps. Removing these barriers would enable returning senior scientists to lead high-impact biomedical research and strengthen India’s scientific competitiveness.
