Sir, in all Railway projects there is a rule to plant and nurture at least 10 saplings for 1 tree cut. But it has been seen that since last many years in South Eastern Railway, in particular Chakradharpur division officials are not adhering to the rulebooks of nature.

Plantation by support staff Hon'ble PM Sir, I suggest that support staff in each office be honoured for a year completed in service, by plantation of a sapling in their name. This should begin with horticulture staff itself who tend the plantations and are unsung. Plantation in such a way will instill in them a sense of pride, make it an immovable possession which they would like to tell their family. Eventually this will become a powerful way of remembrance of ancestors. First choice of plantation could be the office itself, followed by any public office and a public place (like park). We have a culture of saplings planted by eminent persons in the office campuses, which makes it a small number of trees.
