There is only one taluk head quarters hospital in Peermade taluk, in Idukki Kerala which is having poor medical facilities in our district. Thousands of plantation workers, traders, farmers and workers are depending on this hospital. However, poor plantation workers are going to the Kottayam Medical College, which is 100 KM far away from our taluk. There is no AIIMS in our state. If the AIIMS hospital given to Kerala is established in Peermade taluk, many workers including traders, farmers will get better treatment with the arrival of this hospital. There is sufficient government land in the taluk. Therefore, it is humbly requested that an order be issued in the present budget to introduce and declare an AIIMS Hospital in Peermade Taluk of Kerala by taking immediate intervention in these matters.

In november 2020, I had submitted a petition before you for announcing a special package of Rs 1,000 crore in central budget for the upliftment of tea plantation workers in Peermede in Idukki district of Kerala. The central government had said it would take necessary action on the proposal. But during the budget presentation, Assam and West Bengal received a package of Rs 1,000 crore. It is not known where the errors occurred. There are several tea estates in Peermede Taluk. Some plantations were closed earlier due to the crisis. Many plantations are under threat of closure. The children here are not able to complete their education. Workers do not receive the benefits and salaries they are entitled to.There is no basic amenities and infrastructure. There is a possibility of starvation deaths. Therefore, I humbly request you that a special package of Rs.1000 crore be included in the budget(24-25) for the welfare of tea plantation workers in Peermede Taluk, Idukki District, Kerala.

Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2024 on February 1. It must be noted that this is the interim budget of the next financial year and not the complete budget. This means that the policies listed during the presentation won't come into effect until the new government is for
