Union budget should always be transparent and clear. As we all know how much our economy has been affected due to Covid-19, Union budget should try to revive the economy. It should look to strengthen healthcare systems to be better prepared for future health crises. It should also try to review and streamline the tax structure to encourage compliance and stimulate economic growth and reduce income inequality. It should also focus on generate more and more employment opportunities.

Subject:TDS (Tax Deduction at Source) on incremental 4% (above 10%) of NPS employer’s contribution from the salary of the employees of State PSU employees Background :NPS provision don’t bifurcate the State Government employees and State PSU employees (as already stated in NPS model), so Income Tax provision shall also not be interpreted as specific about bifurcations. The amendment of tax-free limit for the employer’s contribution was increased to 14 % only to provide relief from extra tax burden on incremental 4% NPS, for the employees covered under first model i.e. “The Government model for the Central and State Government Employees”. Thus, it will be prudent while interpreting ‘Income Tax’ provision for State PSU’s employees, same essence must be taken.Kindly clarify the same.
