Issue: The Act allows interception of postal articles on broad grounds.
Suggestion:
Add a provision requiring written authorization, time limits, and independent oversight (judicial or parliamentary) for interception.

The proposed amendments to the Post Office Act, 2023 — especially the introduction of the Digital Hub for Reference and Unique Virtual Address (DHRUVA) — are a timely step toward modernising India’s postal infrastructure. A digital addressing system, if implemented with strong privacy safeguards and clear consent-based opt-in provisions, can greatly improve delivery efficiency and boost digital inclusion for citizens across rural and urban India. It could also reduce paperwork and streamline services like e-commerce deliveries, financial inclusion and KYC processes.
At the same time, it’s essential that DHRUVA remains truly voluntary and not mandated, so that citizens can choose digital addressing without replacing physical addresses for those who prefer them. Robust data protection standards and public awareness about how addresses are used and protected will be critical to building trust in this system.
Overall, this is a positive initiative that can help bridge traditional postal se

My idea is to upgrade India Post for the 21st century by using e‑post registration like E-cheque scanner cum collection method plus physical delivery, similar to Meesho/Ekart/Myntra logistics, so that it creates more jobs in the future.

DHRUVA has the potential to be the "Aadhaar for Places." By grounding the legislative framework in user consent and technological neutrality, the Department of Posts will provide a backbone for India’s digital future, making "delivery to the person" as simple as "delivery to a digital ID."

It is difficult to deposit money and take out money from post offices. So many forms are to be filled.
The cheque book facility is provided by post office but if I deposit that cheque in some bank then it does not get cleared as the post offices are not part of clearing network.
If I have to deposit my other bank cheque in post office then it may take several days.
The post offices shall be on banking network and customers shall be able to operate post office saving accounts online similar to any other bank.
