The enormity of the situation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic invites – or rather forces – a reflection on the nature and effectiveness of our systems of governance. And not just of health systems, but more broadly the governance of issues in a Pandemic.

Governance, is frequently used to refer to certain positive attributes organizations and institutions (often public institutions) should incorporate. These attributes include some concepts such as:
• Transparency
• Accountability
• Control of corruption
• Efficiency
• Inclusiveness
• Rule of law

This manner of understanding governance, often also referred to as “good governance”, suggests that effective governance is about setting rules and incentives such as enforceable orders, directives or recommendations. Through these, the behaviours of a substantial number of individuals in the group of interest are steered in a direction that is conducive to achieving collective goals.
In the current situation with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, the central governance issues have been facing a number of challenges. The coronavirus pandemic is here and its effects on lives are still unimaginable. It has opened eyes to the limitations we have to generate effective governance in the face of a public health crisis.

To address the challenges, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances have operationalized the ‘Idea-Box’ for receiving Ideas and Suggestions on the topic “Good Governance Practice in a Pandemic” with effect from 02.11.2020.

You can share your submissions only in PDF format.

The Department looks forward to your ideas and suggestions on “Good Governance Practice in a Pandemic” in the Idea-Box hosted here.

Gender equality is more than a goal in itself. It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good governance.

Every man, every woman who has to take up the service of government, must ask themselves two questions: ‘Do I love my people in order to serve them better? Am I humble and do I listen to everybody, to diverse opinions in order to choose the best path.’ If you don’t ask those questions, your governance will not be good.

Good governance never depends upon laws, but upon the personal qualities of those who govern. The machinery of government is always subordinate to the will of those who administer that machinery. The most important element of government, therefore, is the method of choosing leaders.

I feel more activities should be done for the old citizens for a more happy nation. This pandemic is making people feel very depressed. I would like you to initiate more activities for people with no work at home.

Respected Sir, I am really happy to see the management during these tough times against COVID-19. Your work is truly appreciable! I personally feel that sitting in houses has made us know more about ourselves. But sir, being in house 24/7 and having no work to do is depressing and boring. This is the condition of Grand Parents and Old Citizens. What will a person without work sitting at home do in a day? He’ll sleep, watch t.v, read the newspaper or help in household works.

Pranams. Basically Revenue department playing major role in maintaining the Good Governance. From the village it's starting like drinking water, roads and health issues. Even though there's separate departments to look after, Our Honourable PM and Ministry are also taking more care for them. If revenue department work sincerely, all people will be happy and safe for maintaining good Governance. A separate vigilance wing will assure the success of Revenue department's performance.Bharat Mata ki jai
