Sports Authority of India (SAI) has five Stadia in Delhi viz. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Swimming Pool Complex and Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges. The sprawling Stadia were built for 1982 Asian Games and were later renovated/ reconstructed for the Commonwealth Games-2010 and have potential to generate revenue by way of organising sports and non-sports events.

Monetary rewards must be graded and communicated for different competitions, like national games, asian games, commonwealth game, afro-asian games, SAF games etc. and must be most substantial for Olympic medal winners. Govt. needs to decide the amount that will be rewarded in consultation with a broad range of people, including current and ex-sportspersons, sports journalists and govt. officials and a balance must be established for individual and team event winners

SAI should not adopt double standards to participants. I was victim of such standards. I was Karnataka University Gymnastic player attended inter university game in 1970. I use to get 1st or 2nd place in state level competitions, but I was never selected for interstate competitions. In my place some one else goes who is not knowing Gymnastics. They never participate stating not well, get participation certificate and gets admission in eng. or med. college. Hole years (76-79) practice gon wast.

On rewards (tangible, monetary) and recognitions/ awards (non-tangibles) the Govt must have a clear policy guideline, which need to be designed and implemented by taking the opinions of a wide dpectrum of people, including current and ex-sportspersons, sports journalists (who care for sports), and govt. officials. The nomination and selection process must have similar representations and must follow clear guidelines, eliminating biases to the extent possible.

There is a need to ensure that effective, best of class processes ad policies are designed and put in place for a sustainable and clear path towards excellence. Such processes and policies must be followed closely and implemented in the right spirit. That can happen only through an effective audit mechanism, initially starting with both an external and an internal audit teams, and then over a period of time having the internal audit team doing most of the work, with occasional external audit

SAI must conduct various games almost every day. Like 100m, 200m, 400 m race. Students of school colleges good at sports be sponsored. Each student must be charged nominal fee like Rs.100. Anybody not selected/not in school must be allowed to participate with same fees. After conducting game, issue certificate for his caliber. Identify skilled participant and given extra training at no cost for 1 month, if found competitive give further Trg., & scholarship as long as he is showing progress.
