Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups and other allied material in Union Territory of Chandigarh. As per NGT directions there is also provision of imposing fine of Rs.5, 000/- "Environmental Compensation" to the erring person/entity per event, along with seizure of such stocks.

With the help of this discussion platform the Administration requests you to 'report the violations' (attach pictures or other details) regarding use of plastic carry bag/plate/cup and allied items on ww.mygov.in. Also, we would like to read your suggestions/ideas as well as practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of plastic (carry bag/cup/plate and allied items) ban in Chandigarh.

I have a true story for this - A country got freedom from Britain and the new elected President called its administration and asked how long will it take for us to get rid of English and use our mother tongue back as national language in every office, form and other places. Administration - "around 10 years". President - "Today after i go to sleep and wake up tomorrow morning i want it like 10 years passed."

This is very difficult Ban plastic Bags because it is relatively much cheaper in terms of price however the government can impose some additional tax and at the same time as a active citizen of this nation we should avoid using "plastic Bags" and we should find some alternate means to replaced the plastic item.

I am strongly in favor of banning plastic bags as they are the ones which take years to decompose and are a major contributor of pollution. Instead of using plastic bags, Govt should issue bags which are easy to recycle and cost effective (like paper bags). Yes it will put a hold on economy but "One should loose something for a WIN" #Ban, #PlasticCarryBags, #PlasticCups, #PlasticPlates, #Chandigarh, #NationalGreenTribunal, #UT, #MyGov

My suggestions is that complete plastic ban is next to impossible but we can adopt so pre-existing method like 3Rs as soon in attachment.it compulsory to use this logo while manufacturing the plastic bags or any plastic product its definitely spread awareness in peoples n they carries there own bag while going outside.we also do one thing more we create a symbol like [×] which means non-biodegradable n less in use . I asure u Chandigarh is planned n educated city they implement it easily less⏰.

plastic ban is not complete solution for this because today plastic use is very large amount and people has habituated for plastic.   first we have find alternatives for plastic and also have to change mentality of people that not to use plastic bags or articles. slowly but Indian citizens will get distracted by use of plastic.

The production units of plastic should be closed and alternative carry bag production should be done there. Then imposition of fine should be done. The plastic products in the shop should be seized and the license should be cancelled. The siddipet constituency in Telangana state is plastic free.Observe the measures taken there.

All goverment process should be online like passport, passport renewal why we need to go to passport office. People can upload doc and submit the application we should learn from other goverment. We should ask our intelligence agency to watch other goverment and give advise
