give tax benefits to makers of jute bags and supermarkets that give preference to the use of jute bags , thus driving down the jute / paper bag price and making it more business friendly to use

I had been to Leh. There is total plastic ban. Most important that public has accepted this fact.there is a commitment in public not to use plastic bags. Hence any scheme which has to be launched,it is mandatory to create an atmosphere acceptable to citizens. First public gas to accept that use of plastic bags is unfriendly to human life as well as clean environment and the communication is well accepted. The governmental notification will be effective. monitoring and fine be HARD

Stop generating polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups! Automatically there will be a scarcity of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups at certain point and there should be checks on every shops randomly at any time of the day.Encourage the general public to use cloth bags though social media/TV! #PlasticCarryBags#PlasticCups#PlasticPlates#Chandigarh

Before implementing plastic ban, 1st develop alternatives for plastic in large scale aware pepole to use them.
make fancy cloth bag and sell in small price. also ask to every manufacturer to use cardboard or and other eco-friendly material. let people habbit of it and then apply plastic bag.

If you think banning plastic bag is going to help with environmental issues then you are totally mistaken the concept of paper and jute bags see if you ban plastic and people start using jute and paper bags that will in turn increase cutting of trees so overall no hope for environment. But if you promote reusable bags and use bags made of clothing fabric which are reusable it might help but not much.
