The digital space has witnessed major transformations in the last couple of years and as per industry experts would continue to evolve itself. The latest entrant to the digital space is the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT can also be defined as interplay for software, telecom and electronic hardware industry and promises to offer tremendous opportunities for many industries.

With the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT), the number of connected sensors soon will reach trillions, working with billions of intelligent systems involving in-numerous applications will drive new consumer and business behaviour. The demand for increasingly intelligent industry solutions based on IoT will drive trillions of dollars in opportunity for IT industry and even more for the companies that take advantage of the IoT.

One of the top most initiatives in the form of Digital India Program of the Government which aims at ‘transforming India into digital empowered society and knowledge economy’, is expected to provide the required impetus for development of the IoT industry ecosystem in the country.

Department of Electronics and Information Technology,(DeiTY) has come out with a draft IOT Policy document which focuses on following objectives:

i. To create an IoT industry in India of USD 15 billion by 2020. It has been assumed that India would have a share of 5-6% of global IoT industry.

ii. To undertake capacity development (Human & Technology) for IoT specific skill-sets for domestic and international markets.

iii. To undertake Research & development for all the assisting technologies.

iv. To develop IoT products specific to Indian needs in all possible domains.

The Policy framework of the IoT Policy has been proposed to be implemented via a multi-pillar approach. The approach comprises of five vertical pillars (Demonstration Centres, Capacity Building & Incubation, R&D and Innovation, Incentives and Engagements, Human Resource Development) and 2 horizontal supports (Standards & Governance structure).

Dear PM, The idea of Internet of Things is really marvelous and its future implication would also be astonishing. For me below should be done prior to that. 1.Universal identification Card 2.It should not fail likes ADHAR 3.People should change attitude and be proactive and cooperative to government 4.Stop taking bribes Then hopefully IOT idea would be marvelous thing to make quality of life in smart cities.

It is best to implement these in Government firms, government products..... eg. police officials using gun should be provided with chip which will alert his senior at his first fire..... cameras of government building should be continuously uploading over internet live, so that it may help the seniors for making a surprise track either the officials are working honestly or not....... this way it will become famous n private sectors will also be interested in it...............

Smart Traffic Management: In big cities we should have two tier Roads, i.e. Roads should be expanded vertically and not horizontally. All Right hand side turns should be allowed from upper road. Straight and left movement should be allowed on lower road. lower road straight movement will be without any signal. On upper road it will be one signal for right turn. This will result in saving of time and fuel on X road signals.

It's API or IOT all is possible only after if each and every citizen including a 5 year child are provided with an UNIQUE Ï IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. This is an card like your ATM card that includes that person's history, geography and his biometric inputs. These cards will be felicitated at panchayat level or if required at village level to input data . The system is such that if you find a person in J&K without the card means he is an terrorist and if with it, insert it to get his data

Sir, In my view, a Unique ID number is basic and important and it should be the basic tool for the citizen of India to access all the Portal related to Government. The work should be entrusted with top IT companies region wise, and proper dress code must be enforced at the time of taking the photos. To have hassle free process and save time, Pass port holders / PAN card holders should be permitted to register it online.

To achieve the targets mentioned in IoT Draft, the first think we need to make sure the constant data connectivity. I think we can reduce cost by using 3G GSM devices for all the connectivity, moreover if we can reserve some bandwidth of 3G network for government use only then we can ensure 2 things- constant connection and security. It is very much possible as all the GSM towers are being converted to 3G and those which are not can be easily converted to 3G.

For digital india scheme the first and foremost thing which should be done is" Ek Pehhan Ek Praman" means no pan cards ,no adhar card, no DL,, no voter id,,etc.....just one only one....through which every thing can be done just one id proof. just one profile on tthe web where you have all the details starting from your DOB to Till date approved by Govt.
