Lots of vehicles are available at disposal of so called 'officials' of govt. at central and state levels, many of them are being misused for dropping children to school, getting vegetables from market, shopping for spouse. In case each official is required to key in the locations visited by him (and not his family) and logs scrutinised with strict action taken against the defaulters, things will improve. Huge amount of paper is being wasted in printing the passenger lists in multiple numbers for each of the n number of trains across the country. Platform can have electronic boards, TTs can have tabs, even SMs can also see it on their screens. Even if we save 3-4 copies of such lists and the carbons thereof (paper prints on the coaches may not be avoided so easily), there will be huge savings in money and paper.

National Population Register card can be made chip based and can be linked to all services like train travel, bus travel, and any sort of financial payments (with a limit) to govt agencies and amount directly debited from jan-dhan/regular accounts for such purchases. aka a credit card. Give a discount so that people can be attracted to such schemes and reduce cost and time to collect money for petty services.

Lots of money & time is presently being wasted in PSUs, maharatnas, navratnas to file each paper in separate file. Instead, e-filing system of archival of documents will not only introduce jobs for programmers, system administrators, but also reduce paper usage. Lot of money will also be saved. Only financial transactions need to be signed physically and these can then be scanned and archived in confidential folders. We are using an excellent system in our office.

Railway Reservation Counters across the country key in data like train name, date of journey, class of travel, age, sex, preference of berth, address. In case there are offline counters/kiosks (user friendly) helping passengers to key in the data; this will not only reduce time required for punching online but also increase operational efficiency of the counters. Multiple counters need to be opened offline to key in these numbers. UIADI numbers can also be used to get passenger details.

DAVP places half page - some times full page advts. about various inauguration programmes, commissions, etc. on all leading newspapers. Instead if a quarter page advt. can be put with properly designed advt. (which catches attention of readers), lots of public expenditure can be saved in such advts. In any case, we do not need these advts. to showcase the work of the govt. The good work will itself be Business Development and Marketing for the the govt.

I witnessed a bike rally which comprised of not less than 1000 bikes conducted by a political party.When we know that the country is struggling with its CAD and Fiscal Deficit and the major problem is with the import of petrol and its products, why cant we stop these wastages.If we ban such bike rallies we can save millions of litres of petrol every year.The only positive thing of bike rally is to give a message to the public.But it has many negative effects like pollution, traffic problem and a more burden on the country's deficits.Pls ban such kind of rallies for which we have many other alternatives to achieve the purpose.
