There is a need to improve access to child health services. The Ministry of Health is focusing on promoting child health through appropriate interventions. Presently, the Department of School Education and Literacy, MHRD addresses the nutritional needs of school going children in the age group of 6-14 years through the Mid- Day Meal (MDM) Scheme. The Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) under WCD also addresses the issues of child health. There is, however, a need to synergize the multi-sectoral interventions taken by the relevant GOI Ministries. The existing schemes need to be examined for their outcomes and impediments in implementation, including those of coordination. This theme seeks views and suggestions on how to ensure greater focus on child through improvements in existing schemes and suggest new holistic interventions.

child health is a matter of great concern as it is rightly said "sound mind in a sound body" children right from the junior classes must be given proper guidance about their nutrition diet even parents counseling should be done regarding this matter specially mothers' should be helped & given education related to their child health. the school can organise some health camp where regular check up & some basic health problems of children can be discuss by the experts team.

The mid day meal we are providing to the students of govt. schools in not healthy for them. Many of the times we saw in news & news papers that when any minister or concerned in charge inspect the midday meal process almost schools are not doing well in this regard. The eatable material is spoiled or rotten.

In the school for child health there must be a period in which a teacher should teach benefits of good diet food. one by one each day. so that students must understand the benefits of each fruit and vegetable and teach the students the harmful effects of junk food.

The indian education policy is not simple as you are thinking. There are many schools in my city meerut. There are about 30 students and 3 teachers, what the teachers does in school, they open their folding, make their bed and sleep for the day. Where the future of these children are going. Is this is fault that they belongs to poor family. Richers students like me can get education very easily. The govt spend lot of money but it does not go to right place. Please inspect the govt schools.please
