With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

Sir, study up to 10th class should be simple and in regional languages with Hindi and English as compulsory subjects. Math, science and English as a subject cover basic knowledge. Students from rural or from humble background left the study because of terror in there mind of math and English. I associate with several schools representing rural, city students. simplified syllabus 10 class, reiteration rate will decrease substantially and basic education cover masses.

There is need to open more schools at secondary and senior secondary level. Admission should be open for one and all without discrimination of caste and creed. Students should be treated nicely to create their interest. Visiting the remote areas to encourage people.

To ensure that some new vocational subjects should be introduced in the syllabus up to secondary level and get to become source of income. So students can get jobs after school.
